There is so much do and so much beauty to take in, from the snow-capped volcanoes to the sandy beaches and wildlife-rich lagoons. Take a trip to beach paradise Puerto Vallarta, one of Mexico’s most fun and sophisticated destinations. Surrounded by gorgeous palm covered mountains and stretching around the gleaming blue Bay of Flags, it’s no wonder that Puerto Vallarta is a Mexican hot spot. You can relax on the sandy beaches, take a stroll through the cobbled streets, dine in the stylish restaurants and even go shopping in the unique shops. Try something different with a once in a lifetime a horseback rides on the beach, it’s a great activity to do with your partner, especially if you’re trying to up the romance in your trip. When the sun goes down make sure you venture out to one of the many sizzling nightspots that Puerto Vallarta has to offer.
You cannot come to Mexico without visiting the Chichén Itzá ("At the mouth of the well of the Itza."), one of the most famous and most successfully restored Yucatán Maya sites. One of the new Seven Wonders of the World, the site is constantly packed with tourists from all over the world, but don’t let that discourage you its wonders are worth dealing with a buzzing crowd. Climbing on the structures is forbidden, so be sure not to make that mistake, although there are a few minor passageways that you are permitted to climb. You can visit the site from 8am-5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
The ruins of Tulum are another amazing site to see in Mexico, they are set over a rugged coastline next to the brilliant turquoise waters of the beach. The architecture is nothing short of magnificent and it isn’t hard to picture what it would have been like waking up every morning to a beautiful sunrise in this Maya haven. If you would like a more private walk around the ruins be sure to visit them early in the morning or in the late afternoon.
Inside the enchanting Instituto Cultural de Cabañas lies a series of captivating and moving modernist murals, which you have to see up close in order to appreciate their true beauty. The building was founded by Juan Cruz Ruiz de Cabañas and designed by Spanish architect Manuel Tolsá; it was formerly an orphanage and constructed between 1805 and 1810. José Clemente Orozco painted the 57 magnificent murals, between the years1938 and 1939, channelling the archetypal struggle for freedom into them. The murals depict pre-Hispanic Jalisco and the conquest. Make sure you look around the grounds as well to really appreciate the brilliant architecture.
After a full day of activities, you’ll want to eat at a beautiful restaurant and the La Sibarita is just the right place to dine. Sitting high on a hill above the town, the restaurant has stunning views of the valley below and a backdrop of surreal cliffs, making it the perfect scene for a romantic meal. On the menu there are a variety of dishes like chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and Italian herbs, róbalo (snook) carpaccio in vinaigrette and rose-petal nieve. If you love your wine, you’ll be pleased to know that there is a cellar full of Mexican and international wines for you to choose from.
