New York may be the ultimate dream shopping destination for us girls, but London is another city which offers women travellers a multitude of fun. If you are looking for the perfect girl’s weekend destination, look no further than the British capital. We’ve already given you a bloggers tour guide to where to wine dine and stay in London but we have a little extra something for that perfect girl’s weekend of yours. Check into the lavish Dorchester Hotel which offers accommodation of exceptional grace and comfort, all providing views over Hyde Park or the hotel's landscaped terraces and we can’t forget to mention that they are said to have the deepest baths in London; perfect for those hangover mornings when you need to chill and wake up to something other than the city buzz.
Friday
First day in the city will of course be the most exciting, how about getting lots in from the high brow to the low brow – there’s no better experience of London. Stroll down South Molton St. in Mayfair, a cobbled car-free lane lined with lovely boutiques and art galleries before heading down to designer galore any girl’s shopping haven in Bond Street. As a first day you’ll definitely want to get some catching up in, so why not treat yourselves to some traditional afternoon tea at Brown’s Hotel a self-proclaimed Mayfair Institution. Enjoy your traditional ‘cuppa’ and some champagne over bite size sandwiches and sweet treat – it’s all so ever British.
So we promised you high brow to low brow, so mix things up after your afternoon tea and head over to Camden which promises funky clothing, artsy jewellery and patchouli scent. The open market is a haven for finding totally unique gifts as well as something very London Street Style worthy, you never know when you might want to mix designer and vintage! After a full day of shopping catching up and sipping on champagne, it might be time to turn things up a notch and get ready for the evening. Have a sit down with your girls at The Maze, Gordon Ramsay’s famed restaurant on Grosvenor Square for fusion of taste and style. The Maze promises a combination of French and Asian influenced food with sushi taking centre stage in the bar, created in front of you – what more could you ask for? After dining head on down to No 5 Cavendish Sq. and party the night away. Expect plush, exclusive grandiose with music ranging from commercial to much more specialised sounds you’re bound to have a great night with your girls!
Saturday
There is no better place to be on a Saturday than the Portobello Market in Notting Hill. Lined by pastel-hued homes, Portobello Road becomes a “happening” on the weekend when bands entertain, food stalls pop up, and all the shops open their doors offering everything from priceless antiques to great souvenirs. If you’re looking for an easy day (we expect you will be after a hard night of partying) make your way over to Harrods. You may end up spending the whole day here but you can chill and invest in a personal shopper to do all the hard work while you sip on some champagne. From gorgeous beauty ranges, fragrances, designer collections plus a selection of restaurants within the vicinity we really don’t see why you’d want to leave.
Thinking of heading out again? Then try Mahiki, London’s favourite Tiki land. Britain admittedly doesn’t get much sun but this Polynesian inspired bar/club will have you feeling like you’re on some exotic island. Think amazing cocktails, super cute and sometimes A-List clientele and you have the perfect venue.
Sunday
You can’t leave London without seeing some iconic sites. Head over to Green Park where you could get to see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace – a snap happy moment may we add. You’ll definitely want to escape the crowds though especially if you manage to get a lovely sunny weekend as this tourist hot spot is likely to be packed. Rather than immerse yourselves in the crowd, tuck into St. James Park and stand along the footbridge where you can enjoy a great view of Westminister. Don’t forget to head over to Parliament Square to take pictures of Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Touristy stuff all done, enjoy some window shopping or actual shopping at the upscale shops on your way to Bluebird Café. The spacious dining room is the perfect place to enjoy a lovely Sunday roast over a bottle of wine with your girls before perhaps returning to your hotel to enjoy a little bit of downtime; maybe even check out The Dorchester’s famed spa.
As a final treat, come evening head on over to the Oblix located on the 32nd floor of the Shard, Europe’s tallest building. Enjoy some dinner, a guaranteed great view and a total laugh with your girls, as there’ll be lots of bubbly going around too! Perfect end to the perfect girl’s weekend.
And remember don’t forget your camera/smartphone for all those perfect Facebook and Instagram moments, you wouldn’t want you entire girl’s weekend to be a total blur now would you?
