The award season may be over, culminating in Sunday night's 86th Academy Awards, but in search of some winter sun, we are taking you in the footsteps of a Hollywood legend, Elizabeth Taylor. Today we are in Portofino, Italy at Hotel Splendido, for a room with a view. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton stayed in Room 472 with the adjoning suite 471. Other celebrities who enjoyed this luxury hotel and its splendid view include Liza Minelli and Leslie Bricusse.
Room 471 is a corner suite with windows on two sides with both the living room and the bedroom opening on to a terrace perfect for a spot of secluded sun-bathing while taking in the scenery. If you get tired of the privacy though, the swimming pool also offers equally glorious views of the marina down below.

The hotel is closed for the season and will re-open on 4 April 2014.
