Happy birthday, Linda Evangelista! The '90s supermodel who turns 49 tomorrow once famously said, "I do not get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day." The Linda Evangelista suite at g Hotel in Dublin is sure to make you feel the same way to with its creature comforts and lush luxury – and all this in Linda Evangelista’s very own bed… Why not make like a super and stay in Dublin the stylish way?
Located by the lake near the sea in Galway, Ireland’s second most popular tourist hot spot after Dublin, the G Hotel is the creation of the whimsical milliner Philip Treacy. From the moment you step into dark and intimate reception area of the g Hotel, with black glass walls acting as a frame for a tank of Connemara-bred seahorses and bespoke concierge wall, designed by Philip Treacy, you know this will be a whole new experience – a tumble down the rabbit hole, if you will, and a plunge into the Madhatter’s world of wonders.
The “gigantic and particularly glamorous doll’s house” in the designer’s words, the g Hotel opened in 2006, is a five-star establishment considered to be one of the most well reputed hotels in Ireland.
From the lobby covered in white Venetian plaster and reminiscent of a seashell, this is a hint of the surprises to come to the 101 glamorous rooms including 26 suites; a stay at the g is guaranteed to be daringly glitzy and glam.
The rooms are all renowned for their ultimate comfort, quirky designs and luxurious touches, but if you want to make your stay at this unique hotel that little bit more special, the suite to stay in would have to the presidential suite named after the 90s supermodel Linda Evangelista, 120 square meters of pure, unbridled and colorful luxury.
Located on the second floor, this stylish suite offers panoramic views of Lough Atalia and the city skyline and boasts a large lobby area with guest bathroom and butler’s work area, a spacious living room with dining area to accommodate up to six guests for private dining.
Off of the living room is the spacious bedroom, with views of your private terrace with a super king sized bed which reportedly was Linda Evangelista’s own bed; yes, the very one she refused to get out of for anything less than $10,000. En-suite facilities include an oversized double shower and stand alone Villeroy & Boch Bath and tile television.
As to why the suite is named after the supermodel, it is not just down to the her old bed bought at an auction but to Evangelista’s negotiation skills. When the model posed for an illustration with Treacy who was keen to have model portraits in every room, she agreed to it on the condition that the illustration had prime position at the hotel and that the presidential suite was named after her. You can now find Evangelista’s portrait in the hotel’s plush Grand Salon.
If you’re able to leave your bed, for $10,000 or less, you can carry on relaxing in supermodel style at the exclusive ESPA at the g located on the upper two floors of the hotel and includes a ‘secret’ bamboo garden on the roof. It also has heat treatment rooms, a vitality pool and a glass pavilion.
We also say do not skip the chance to dine at award-winning gigi’s which offers a weath of sumptious dishes. And gigi’s is of course not exempt from the Phillip Treacy touch with banquettes in purple velvet and jewel-coloured Andrew Martin chairs.
The g is also home to three Signature Lounges, designed by none other than the milliner Treacy himself, where guests can relax in style. There is the Grand Salon adorned with 300 twinkling mirror balls which reflect the waters of Lough Atalia. For the ladies, there is the distinctly pink Ladies Lounge, and for men – yes, you guessed it, a plush blue Gentleman’s Lounge.
Another on-site delight worth sampling is the g’s Cocktail Bar serving bespoke ‘g hotel’ cocktails as well as more familiar favourites. Delightfully decadent, it features a bar adorned with thousands of red Swarovski crystals, marble floors and mirror panelled walls.
