There are only a few things to do on New Year’s Eve if you’re at home: binge on the last of the turkey sandwiches and leftovers from Christmas, go and grab a bargain in the post-Christmas sales or stay at home for a cosy duvet day with feel-good festive films on TV.
Doubtless one such film is bound to be Eloise at Christmastime based on the 1958 book of the same name written by Kay Thompson. If you love the book, now a children's classic, or the 2003, then a stay at the Eloise Suite at The Plaza New York is a must.
Designed by celebrated fashion designer Betsey Johnson and channeling the ebullient spirit of The Plaza’s most famous “resident” Eloise, the irreverent and irrepressible fictional heroine of Kay Thompson’s classic, the Eloise Suite is located on the 18th floor and is comprised of two rooms – one for erstwhile young Eloises and one for their parents.
Both rooms are resplendently decorated in a palette of pink and black with the highlights including a signature Plaza chandelier fitted with pink, candy striped wall panels outlined with gold leaf molding, a white zebra-print carpet, a king-size bed made up with custom-designed bedding depicting images of Eloise, a sparkly padded pink headboard and nearby ottoman, and Eloise’s name scrawled in neon lights affixed to the wall above.
While young ladies may be a little too tempted to spend their time at The Plaza inside the four walls of this stylish suite, there is much fun to be had for erstwhile Eloises around the hotel too. No trip to The Plaza is complete without a visit to The Eloise Shop.
Wile you can relax in the stylish Living Room and plan your next New York adventure, inside the Fashion Room is bound to thrill any young lady with the exclusive Eloise costumes and branded t-shirts. The Library Room is where guests can watch their favorite Eloise movie clips or enjoy story time while a visit to the Tea Room is a must.
Rates for the Eloise Suite start at $1,295/night and include an Eloise bathrobe, a $100 gift card to the Eloise shop, an Eloise USB stick, a framed photo of the guest inside the suite and an Eloise book. Alternatively, you can also book an adjoining ‘grown-up’ Edwardian Suite, which includes both champagne and truffles. Rates start at $2,995/night for this two-bedroom option.
